Flower Girl - Pennycandy of Gladden

My hobbit mintrel is a character I have no intention of leveling. I had created her for one reason originally--Turning of the Tide's own Hobbits to Isengard event, which I held back in September 2013, long before Sapience held it for each server. To tell the truth, Forgotten Darkness of Gladden was the first community, that I know of, to run that event in early 2012. Community events or not, I decided to keep little level 8 Pennycandy and use her as an additional model. So far, she's provided me with a significant amount of practice in clothing hobbits casually. I highly doubt I'll have any battle-ready outfits for that race.

When was the last time I actually took pictures in the Shire? It's been a while. Probably because everywhere I go, there's the distracting scent of freshly baked pies and fields of flowers as far as the eye can see. Anyway, choosing rose as the base color for this outfit was a carefully considered decison. I wanted something that would dye a pinkish shade, instead of the typical lavender and mauve hues produced by the dye. To do that, I needed something made from cloth or leather with a base as close to true white as possible. I revived the dress from Yule Festival, the Frostbluff Dress of Thanks, to fit my purposes and provide a lavish, yet celebratory feeling.

Originally, the shoulders, Gwir-palvais, had been dyed rose. After letting this outfit sit for a week, I came to the conclusion to change them to white and at least compliment the circlet. If I hadn't, this would have been an overly pink ensemble that would quickly become an eyesore to anybody wearing it. I discovered a very long time ago that outfits don't require just cosmetics that dye similarly. They also required the careful coordination and placement of colors that refer to other pieces of the whole. For example, the circlet contained the major colors of the outfit, referring both to the shoulders and the dress. Just remember that it doesn't have to be the dyed area that makes the reference. The undyeable portions have also made as important an impact in outfits.

Head: Circlet of Fresh-picked Flowers (Rose, Farmers Faire token barter reward)
Shoulders: Gwir-palvais (White, Isengard instance cluster)
Chest: Frostbluff Dress of Thanks (Rose, Yule Festival hidden reward)**
Implement: Foxglove (Vol 3, Book 10 reward)

**This dress can only be obtained by completing enough quests during the Yule Festival. When you are given a choice to either help the rich or help the poor, choosing the latter will guarantee you the dress and matching robe. However, you won't be able get these cosmetics until 40 days have passed. Keep an eye on your mail come early February for a the letter that grants you these rewards!

  1. What a cutie! :D the white mantle and pink-white circlet are indeed a nice touch, and less "heavy" than having everything dyed rose. Lovely shot with the rainbow!
